Dakota Dunes Casino is a First Nations casino located in Whitecap, Saskatchewan. Situated on Whitecap Dakota First Nation land south of Saskatoon along Saskatchewan Highway 219, the 84,000 sq. ft facility opened in 2007, and includes a casino, restaurant, multi-purpose rooms, and an 18-hole golf course.
In September 2018, construction began on a new $38 million, 115-room hotel on the resort site, expected to open in 2020. There are also plans for a spa as part of the next phase of the resort.[2]
Another Saturday night, another $1000.00 and a big fat nothing in return. Good work Dakota Dunes on sucking everyone dry to pay for that new hotel. The idiots that voted against building a new casino within the Saskatoon city limits years ago should be proud of themselves. Great way to not promote your city. SIGA operates seven casino entertainment destinations throughout Saskatchewan, including Bear Claw Casino, North of Carlyle, Dakota Dunes Casino, South of Saskatoon, and Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford, Gold Horse Casino in Lloydminster, Living Sky Casino in Swift Current, Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert and Painted Hand Casino in Yorkton. Set amongst an expanse of natural rolling sand dunes, the welcoming resort is nestled within the idyllic setting of the South Saskatchewan River valley basin with beautifully designed guest rooms, on‐site farm‐to‐table dining, an award‐winning golf course, and is connected to the Dakota Dunes Casino. Dakota Dunes Casino offers a wide selection of special promotions, food specials and exciting events!
The Teepee of Light consists of seven 4000-watt spot lights that at night project into the night sky to form a light effect in the shape of a teepee.
The 18 hole golf course opened to the public on April 30, 2004. The golf course was designed by Graham Cooke. It hosted the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open on PGA Tour Canada from 2008 to 2016.[3]
